St. Louis, MO (KSDK) -- What officers believed to be an explosive device in a South St. Louis home turned out to be a halloween costume, police say.
Friday morning, officers were called to a home along Oak Hills at Oleatha after a real estate agent came across what appeared to be a suspicious package in the basement.
Police made evacuations as a precaution while investigating the package.
Officials soon determined the 'suspicious device' to be a hoax.
Police say they were able to get a hold of the previous home-owner who confirmed the object was a halloween costume that was left behind when he moved.
No other information is available at this time.
