St. Charles, MO (KSDK) - Firefighters in St. Charles are on the scene of a fire at an apartment complex in the 800 block of Spring Avenue.

Firefighters were called to the fire shortly before 8:00 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived they found heavy fire coming from the 16 unit apartment building.

Dan Casey from St. Charles Fire said one person jumped from a second story balcony to escape the fire. That victim was transported to Mercy Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

At least one other person was transported to the hospital, and is expected to make a full recovery.
