St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis firefighters were brought in to put out a load of smoldering trash inside a refuse truck in south city early Thursday.
The smoking rubbing was noticed as the truck made its way along I-55 in south St. Louis shortly after 5:00 a.m.
Firefighters doused the back side of the trash truck and then began to sift through the load to insure all of the smoldering hot spots were extinguished.
No immediate word on how the trash was ignited or how long the rubbish might have smoldered in the back of the truck before anyone noticed it was burning.
No injuries reported. At least two lanes of northbound I-55 near Delor was blocked while the incident was handled.
