Rural Phelps County, MO (KSDK) - Missouri Highway Patrol troopers say a single vehicle crash Thursday has taken the life of a Rolla man.

Accident investigators say 36 year old David Shackelford was southbound on Route O just before 3 Thursday afternoon when his pick-up drove off the right side of the road.

Officials say Shackelford overcorrected and the truck then spun off the left side of the pavement and flipped over.  The victim; who as alone, was thrown from the wreckage and pronounced dead at a Rolla hospital a short time later.

Troopers say Shackelford was not wearing a safety restraint at the time of the crash.
