Megabus crash on I-55 near Litchfield, Illinois. (KSDK)
Chicago, IL (KSDK) -- A lawsuit was filed against Megabus on behalf of a young woman injured in the deadly Megabus crash earlier this month, Clifford Law Offices said Tuesday.
Nineteen-year-old Jamie Schultz of Chicago was a passenger on the bus traveling to St. Louis that crashed into a concrete bridge support pillar on I-55 in Litchfield, Illinois on August 2.
Clifford Law Offices says that Schultz was struck by the seat in front of her when the bus crashed, and she suffered severe emotional stress from the trauma of witnessing a woman killed in front of her.
The complaint also alleges that the driver of the bus was driving too fast for conditions and that Megabus and its employees failed to maintain the subject bus in reasonably safe condition and failed to properly train its employees.
The lawsuit claims Schultz's injuries are in excess of $50,000.
The August crash killed one woman and injured dozens of others.
This is the second lawsuit filed against Megabus this month, the first being from the family of a Chicago woman who was struck and killed by a bus last week.
