Pikes Peak race car crash (YouTube)
By Douglas Stanglin, USA TODAY
Our colleagues at KUSA-TV in Denver tipped us to this YouTube video of a violent crash during the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on Sunday near Colorado Springs.
According to the video description, Jeremy Foley and his co-driver flew off the side of the mountain at Devils Playground, a mile or two from the summit of the peak, with their Mitsubishi Evolution 8 rolling as many as 10 times times before coming to a stop.
Both occupants walked away from the accident with only minor injuries, KUSA reports.
It was the 90th time the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, billed as the country's second oldest motor sports race, has been held.
The race takes place over a 12.42 mile course with 156 corners finishing at 14,110 feet at the summit of Pikes Peak.
