Belleville, IL (KSDK) - A tentative trial date has been decided for a Belleville man accused of fatally stabbing his grandmother who just returned home from a hospital following a stroke more than four years ago.
Logan Dyjak, 25, is charged with first degree murder in the June 2008 killing of 66 year old Judity Bauer, who lived just outside the Belleville city limits.
Court officials say Dyjak's trial starts October 8th in St. Clair County. He's scheduled to be in court this afternoon for a motions hearing in the case.
Detectives say Dyjak went to the home of the victim and stabbed her in the throat. The woman was later found dead inside the home in the 300 block of Las Olas Drive.
Dyjak then left his grandmother's home and started towards another family members home where he planned a second attack according to investigators.
The plan was interrupted though when police caught Dyjak on the way to the second home.
A motive for the violence has not been released.
