St. Louis County, MO (KSDK) - A 54-year-old Chesterfield man was sentenced Friday for involuntary manslaughter and assault in the death of a local teacher.

Patrick McCormick received a one year county jail sentence, followed by five years of probation.  That one year sentence is on the assault charge; the probation is for the involuntary manslaughter charge.

Janet Esrock, a Whitfield teacher and coach, was critically injured in a head-on crash along Wildhorse Creek Road in Chesterfield on August 26, 2011. She later died from her injuries. Her son was treated at an area hospital and released.

Esrock had been with Whitfield School since 2003 and her son, Jonathon, is a student there. Esrock's other two children are Whitfield graduates.
