Fairview Heights, IL (KSDK) - Authorities have charged three women with Mob action and aggravated battery after an attack on a waitress at the Red Lobster in Fairview Heights Friday.
Sharrell Evans, Britley Green, and Geneen Green - all of Belleville - are being held on 50-thousand dollars bond.
Police were called to the Red Lobster in Fairview Heights Friday afternoon after they received a call about an employee who was battered in the dining area.
The incident happened around 2:15 p.m. at the Red Lobster in the 100 block of Ludwig Drive.
The preliminary investigation shows customers threw water onto the employee and struck her several times with either open hands or a menu.
Police have not determined what started the dispute.
An ambulance was called to the scene, and the victim was checked over by paramedics. She refused further medical treatment and returned to work.
A similar incident occurred December 30, 2011 involving a Red Lobster employee. Police say the incidents are not related. In fact, Red Lobster employees tell Newschannel 5 the cases do not involve the same waitress.
NewsChannel 5 reached out to Red Lobster, and spokesperson Heidi Schauer released the following statement:
"There was an extremely unfortunate incident involving some guests that occurred at our restaurant in Fairview Heights today. We take this matter very seriously; the safety of our employees and guests is our highest priority. The local authorities responded immediately and we will continue to fully cooperate with their investigation."
