St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis Police say a woman living in a home invaded by a burglar early Monday was physically beaten in the bedroom of her home during 2:00 a.m. incident.
Not long after the crime, police had made an arrest.
Police released the new information late Monday afternoon, telling NewsChannel 5 the woman called police after the unidentified intruder broke into the house through a rear door, beat her and then fled.
Before the woman called 911, the man who broke into the home in the 4300 block of Bingham repeatedly struck the 42 year old victim in what police described as a 'violent attack'.
The woman fought the man off and he then fled through the same rear door.
Police say the woman had extensive facial injuries in the attack as well as internal injuries from the severe beating and was hospitalized.
Investigators began tracking the burglar after he lost one of his sandals in a chain link fence. Police apprehended the unidentified 31 year old man in a nearby home where he was hiding. Charges are pending.
