St. Louis (KSDK) - Missouri Republicans are still calling for Congressman Todd Akin to drop out of the U.S. Senate race.

A new push is coming Thursday from the St. Louis City GOP.

In a statement the group condemned Akin's controversial comment about rape and abortion saying, "We believe that Representative Akin has seriously jeopardized our ability to defeat Claire McCaskill and to reclaim the United States Senate."
