Wentzville, MO (KSDK) - Police in Wentzville need your help finding two men driving a white van. They are wanted for police questioning after police say they stopped in the road and talked to two young girls.
This incident happened about two weeks ago. Wentzville police say they have followed numerous leads in this case and are now reaching out for your help. NewsChannel 5 talked to the little girl who says she was approached on the street.
"It was the most horrible thing in my life," says the 10-year-old, whose first name we will not provide for safety reasons.
The incident occurred in her own neighborhood.
"He rolled down the window and said, 'Get in my van,' I said um, uh, 'no!'" says the little girl. "I just ran back down to the fort and told my friends, 'Hey, this guy was trying to kidnap me!'"
Her father, Jesse McDaniel, didn't know how to respond when his daughter and her friends rushed inside the home, his 10-year-old telling him, she thinks she was almost abducted.
"It just really puts you on edge, I didn't really honestly know what to think, you know, it's just kind of like you are dumb-founded," says McDaniel.
Wentzville Police Chief Lisa Harrison admits she doesn't know if these two men are dangerous but police need to talk to them and find out why they confronted this ten year old.
"In this day and age we have to bring our kids up with that fear of strangers, and it worked this time," says Chief Harrison.
"If I didn't know what to do when that van pulled up to me, I would probably be dead at this moment or just missing," says the young girl.
McDaniels worst nightmare was on the verge of becoming a reality.
"If they could have made the highway they could have been anywhere," he says thinking about the possibility of losing his daughter.
"I'm kind of a, vindictive person, eye for an eye and everything."
One last thing: advice from the young victim.
"All I can say now is for parents to watch their kids from now on in the streets, I just wish other children whoever sees this van, good luck," says the 10-year-old.
Wentzville police say the van has been seen all around Wentzville and the surrounding area. Here's the description: two men driving a late 80s or early 90s model Dodge white van, no side windows in the back and a sign that reads "Weed Man" on the side. It also has a loud exhaust system.
