St. Louis County (KSDK) - St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley met Friday with Senior Policy Advisor Mike Jones and advocates from the New Life Evangelistic Center about a homeless center in St. Louis County.
"We are aggressively working on a plan that will provide some relief in the near future while we develop a longer term strategy for providing shelter and services for the homeless," said Dooley.
Andrea Jackson-Jennings, Director of Human Services, and Rev. Charles Robinson also attended the hour-long meeting.
Concerns noted included the lack of shelter for women and children, overcrowded conditions at New Life Evangelistic Center, and the need for support services for those living in temporary shelter.
Jones says homeless service issues are a priority for the Dooley Administration, and there are plans for a transitional housing facility to come online by 2013.
