KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The remnants of Hurricane Isaac have dropped 4 to 6 inches of rain across a large swath of Missouri, stretching from the Kansas City-area to Kirksville.
The National Weather Service says the storm is moving eastward Saturday toward the St. Louis area. The weakening storm then will progress across southern Illinois on Sunday.
Meteorologist Evan Bookbinder says no flooding has been observed and forecasters allowed flood advisories to expire. Winds gusted as high as 40 mph in the Kansas City area early Saturday before diminishing.
The Weather Service also is warning that tornadoes are possible in central Illinois southward through eastern Arkansas and western Tennessee. In Missouri, tornado watches were issued in 16 counties across the southeast and east-central portion of the state.
