Jefferson County, MO (KSDK) - The body of a man who went missing while swimming Friday in the Meramec River has been recovered.
Around 7:20 a.m. a fisherman spotted the body in the river just south of the Highway 21 overpass. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol recovered the body.
The victim has been identified as Kurt Murphy, 39.
Several agencies responded to an area of the river near Tesson Ferry Road after Murphy was reported missing Friday night.
Murphy's girlfriend told authorities they were swimming when the he started floating down the river. Crews searched all night Friday and all day Saturday, but were unsuccessful.
