Rosewood Heights, IL (KSDK) - An Illinois mother faces several charges after her two year old son was found wandering in the middle of a Rosewood Heights street alone early Sunday morning.

Around 7:00 a.m. an alert driver spotted the toddler walking on 9th Street in Rosewood Heights not far from a busy intersection. That man told us off camera that the little boy was wearing nothing but a diaper and was holding a dog bone in his hand.

He flagged down a Madison County Sheriff's deputy that was passing by.

The Sheriff's Office tells us within 20 minutes deputies found the home where the child lived. It was a mobile home about a quarter mile away.

We're told his mother, Krystal Rushing, went out to look for him and left a one year old in the trailer.

Rushing was arrested and charged with two counts of child endangerment.

During the arrest, we're told deputies found a small amount of cannabis.

She is also charged with possession of cannabis.

The Sheriff's Office took both children into protective custody, and have placed them with other family members.

The three charges filed against Krystal Rushing are all misdemeanors. Bond was set at $300 cash.
