St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis Police are starting at square one in a shooting investigation involving a man who was inebriated, and could only remember he was riding in a car with someone he had just met.

Police located the 41 year old victim at a local hospital where he was being treated for a bullet wound to his leg.  Investigators interviewed the victim who explained to police he had gotten into a car to drive with another man to buy marijuana.

While on their way, a third person approached the car the victim was riding in and opened fire.

The man driving the car sped away and dropped the man who was shot at an area emergency room, before driving away from the hospital.

During the interview with the shooting victim, the man explained he had been drinking and could not recall where he got into the other man's car, or where they were at when he was shot.

The investigation continues.
