St. Louis (KSDK) - On Thursday NewsChannel 5's Leisa Zigman, Jennifer Blome, Pat McGonigle and Kay Quinn brought some cheer to cancer patients at the Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital. They delivered chocolate roses to patients during their chemotherapy treatments.

The tasty treats were generously donated by Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate.

NewsChannel 5 met courageous people of all ages who reminded us why we need to continue to help find cures and treatments for all kinds of cancers. Their stories will air throughout the day September 28.

So how can you help?

Join us for Pedal the Cause on October 7th. More than 1,400 cyclist and 800 volunteers are expected to ride. The event raises money to help researchers find cures and treatments for various types of cancer.

Pedal the Cause 2011 raised $1.3 million, and this year the hope is to raise even more money.

Participants do not need to be experienced cyclists to join the event. The courses range from 15 miles to 75 miles. One hundred spin bikes will also be available.

The start and finish line will be at Soldiers' Memorial, and courses will wind through St. Louis, University City, Clayton, Ladue, Creve Coeur, Town & Country, Chesterfield, Ballwin, and Wildwood.

For information on how to participate or volunteer, visit the Pedal the Cause website.
