WARRENSBURG, Mo. (AP) - Nearly three dozen officers are investigating the weekend shooting death of a western Missouri bar owner.

Twenty-five-year-old Blaine Whitworth was found Saturday night outside his Warrensburg home - the city's first homicide victim since 2009.

The Sedalia Democrat reports about 35 officers from several agencies held their first meeting on the case Tuesday in Warrensburg. The officers make up the Missouri Rural Major Case Squad.

Whitworth was described as the well-liked owner of Molly's and Bodies, both located in downtown Warrensburg. He graduated from the University of Central Missouri and worked elsewhere before returning to the city to open the bars.

Warrensburg Police Chief Bruce Howey says multiple shots were fired Saturday, but he declined to say how many struck Whitworth. The chief also would not discuss a motive.
