Meth found during traffic stop (Illinois State Police)
Madison County, Ill (KSDK) -- An Illinois State Police trooper uncovered 3.6 pounds of meth worth an estimated $330,000 during a traffic stop.
Illinois State Police said the trooper stopped a vehicle for improper lane usage on northbound I-55 near Troy on September 9. The trooper suspected criminal activity and asked for permission to search the SUV.
A K-9 detected an illegal substance and three cellophane wrapped bundles containing meth were discovered.
A passenger in the vehicle is being held in the St. Clair County Jail pending federal charges for drug trafficking. An immigration detainer was issued for the driver of the SUV and another passenger in the vehicle. They are being held at Madison county pending possible deportation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
