Gillespie, IL (KSDK) - At a small gym in Gillespie, Illinois, lives are being changed.
"It's pretty incredible," said Coletta Fletcher.
"I've lost a whole person almost," added Dustin Fletcher.
It's a new life that wasn't exactly plotted and planned.
"I was the guy who sat around and watched Biggest Loser while eating a large pizza and thinking 'oh I wish I had the time to do that,'" explained Dustin.
But a contest at Ageless two years ago got Dustin's competitive juices flowing, juices he didn't even know he had.
"I played sports in junior high, but that's about it," Dustin pointed out.
So he eased into a rather basic workout routine you know, walking on the treadmill and lifting a few weights.
"I started this and she laughed, yeah this isn't going to happen," Dustin said referring to Coletta.
And well, after seeing Dustin lose so much weight, Coletta decided she could too. Together over the last two years, they have lost more than 160 pounds.
"I've watched, like I said, my family struggle with their health and diabetes and high blood pressure and all of those things and I didn't want to have to do that," Coletta explained.
Hopefully now she won't have to and hopefully this husband and wife's journey will motivate someone else to make a change.
"I hope that people learn that ordinary people can do it. It doesn't matter how overweight you are, you can do it by making small changes," Coletta said.
"If I can do it, anybody can do it 'cause I'm nobody special, I'm just a regular old guy with a wife and kid in a small town," Dustin added.
