St. Louis (KSDK) - A new partnership could be in the works between Saint Louis University and the city police department.

The proposal was sparked by the murder of former SLU Volleyball player Megan Boken in the Central West End back in August.

Comptroller Darlene Green called university President Father Lawrence Biondi and asked him to consider paying for about 10 extra officers.

The city has similar agreements with the housing authority and for metro buses and trains.

"They are a growing urban campus as you know they are getting ready to expand downtown with their law school so what they need is more police protection more police presence and that's what we can offer them," said Green.

She says she wants to see how a partnership can work with SLU before she approaches Washington University about a partnership.

SLU officials haven't commented on the proposed partnership.
