St. Louis County (KSDK) - Funeral arrangements have been finalized for a Southeast Missouri State soccer player who died from injuries sustained in an accident.
Visitation for Meghan Herndon will be held Saturday, September 22 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Sunday, September 23 from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home, located at 10501 Gravois in Affton, Missouri.
Her funeral will be held Monday the 24th at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Church in Fenton, located at 15 Forest Knoll Drive.
Meghan was driving her scooter to work on September 9 when she collided with a pickup truck. She was taken to a hospital in Cape Girardeau and then transferred to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She died Thursday. Her liver and two kidneys were donated.
"Meghan was B negative so to receive her organs, those guys who received them were on a very limited resource list so she really helped some people who really probably wouldn't have gotten the resources they needed or the organs because it's so rare," said Cindi Herndon, Meg's mother.
"She was able to carry on. As a nurse she was going to help people and she got to do that. She was able to donate her organs and we know three of those have already been placed in St. Louis and those people have two kidney's and her liver," said Ian Herndon, Meg's father.
More will likely be helped as well.
A 19-year-old man was cited for the collision.
