St. Louis (KSDK) - The St. Louis area Better Business Bureau is warning job seekers to beware of online employment scams.
Chris Thetford of the BBB says there are red flags to watch for when applying for work over the Internet.
Those include offers that promise the opportunity to 'get rich' without leaving home. Employers should never ask for money upfront. And, the BBB says to be very cautious if a company asks for a credit report, social security number, or bank account number.
Applicants should never wire money to someone posing as an employer, and people should beware if the salary and benefits seem too good to be true.
