Miami-Dade, FL (WSVN/CNN) - There's a search for answers, after workers at a waste management plant stumble upon the body of a young woman.
Workers told authorities at first they thought it was a mannequin in the garbage.
Miami-Dade police were on the scene Tuesday at a recycling plant in an industrial area of northwest Dade.
"All we know so far, we have so far that I can tell you is that we have a white female, I can't tell you the age, all that's being investigated by homicide," said Maj. Garry Jeanniton.
Police say a worker discovered a body of a worker wrapped in a bag.
WSVN-TV spoke with workers at nearby businesses stunned by the police activity and news of a murder.
"It is our first time, it is our first time we've been here close to six months and it's the first time we've heard something like that," said an unidentified worker.
The investigation will turn to trying to identify the woman. Police have been careful not to release too many details.
The body was taken to the medical examiner's office to determine the woman's identity and cause of death, as police continue to investigate.
Detectives have taken DNA samples and dental impressions.
