Police say a Rock Hill police officer was in the area when he recognized a suspect wanted for a home invasion that happened sometime in the last week in Rock Hill.

The suspect was inside a white car when the officer approached him. The driver of the car was not in the car at the time.

The officer told the suspect to take his hands out of his pockets.

The suspect raised a weapon at the officer.

The officer then fired one shot at the suspect, killing him.

Police say they do not know why the suspect was inside the car he was in, or what his relationship with the driver may be.

A worker at the convenience store told NewsChannel 5 the suspect is a former employee of the gas station. The employee said the man's photo was posted inside the store and employees were instructed to call police immediately if he came into the store.

The employee did say why they were instructed to call police.
