Belleville, IL (KSDK) - A 21-year-old Belleville man was charged Thursday in connection with an accident that claimed the life of a 45-year-old East St. Louis woman.

St. Clair County State's Attorney Brendan Kelly said the victim, Yvette Hart, was crossing the intersection of Louisiana and 25th streets with her daughter when she was struck by a pickup truck speeding in the wrong lane.

Investigators said the driver blew through a stop sign at the intersection. Hart died at a hospital a short time later.

East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Floore says Friday morning the truck involved in the accident was recovered in Cahokia after they received a tip. He says there was some effort to cover up damage done to the truck.

The state's attorney charged Justin Jordan with reckless homicide and failure to report an accident involving death. Jordan's bond was set at $100,000.
