Edwardsville, IL (KSDK) - An overnight fire at a residence in Madison County has heavily damaged the structure and left the two people living there trying to salvage what's left.

Fire broke out in the rear portion of the hhome in the 700 block of Stolze in Edwardsville around 2:45 a.m. Friday, quickly climbing from the single story structure into the attic and roof above.

The two residents were able to get out safely and there were no reports of injuries in the fire.

No cause pinpointed at this time.  The investigation is ongoing.
