Lakeland, FL (WFTS/CNN) - A 14-year-old Florida girl was arrested on charges of killing her newborn baby.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Department, the teen admitted she had been trying to hide her pregnancy from her family with baggy clothing, then gave birth to the 9lb. 5oz. ounce baby in her bathroom at home.
"She delivered the baby into the toilet. She took the baby from the toilet, she checked it for a pulse, and it was moving, and then she choked it to death," said Sheriff Grady Judd.
Deputies say the girl's mother discovered the baby in a shoe box several days later.
The teenage girl faces charges of premeditated first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
