Valrico, FL (WTSP) - A Florida teacher is facing serious charges after police say he tried to put out a hit on another teacher.
Detectives say a witness told them that James Pepe tried to hire him to murder former co-worker Robert Meredith.
According to police, the witness came forward because he thought Pepe was serious about harming Meredith.
With the FBI's help, police tapped phone calls between Pepe and the witness. On one of those calls police say Pepe asked an undercover officer to help him find someone to kill Meredith.
They also say he offered $2,000 as payment.
Pepe is charged with solicitation of first-degree murder.
