St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A north St. Louis County man is expected to be sentenced this morning in St. Louis Circuit Court after he was convicted of kidnapping a woman and holding her in the trunk of his car while he reported to his parole officer in 2011.

Robert Rhodes, 38 of Normandy was found guilty during a jury trial in August and prosecutors are seeking a life prison term for the convicted felon.

Along with the kidnapping charge, jurors also found Rhodes guilty of armed criminal action in the case.

Evidence at trial showed Rhodes abducted the 21 year old woman in St. Louis County, locked her into the trunk and then drove to the probation office in the 2700 block of Clark Street in downtown St. Louis.

After arriving and parking his car, a woman working across the street from the parole office watched Rhodes wiping down the trunk lid of his Cadillac before entering the building.

That witness kept her eyes on Rhodes car and noticed the back portion of the car shaking.  The witness called police who investigated, then discovered and rescued the dehydrated woman from the trunk.

Rhodes was on probation for less than eight months on an unrelated conviction when he kidnapped the victim.
