Edwardsville, IL (KSDK) - The Madison County State's Attorney's Office charged three Collinsville men in connection with a series of burglaries in Collinsville.
According to Captain T. Mike Dixon, spokesman for the Madison County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a home burglary in the 7100 block of Loyet Road on September 12 at 6 p.m. The homeowners indicated more than $6,000 in electronics and stereo equipment had been stolen from the residence while they were away.
Authorities were able to recover approximately $4,000 worth of the stolen property and were able to link 24-year-old Matthew Conrad and 36-year-old Jason Brown to the crime, Dixon said. Arrest warrants were issued for Conrad and Brown, but deputies could not locate them at the time.
On September 17, just after 8:20 a.m., deputies responded to a home burglary in the 700 block of Troy Road. The victim said an unknown number of suspects broke into the house and stole copper pipes and wiring.
Dixon said the sheriff's office was contacted on September 21 just after 7:30 p.m. about another home burglary in the 800 block of Oran Avenue. The homeowner said burglars took several firearms and assorted power tools.
Investigators developed evidence linking Conrad and Brown to all three burglaries, and additional evidence was uncovered linking 26-year-old William Stough to the burglaries on Loyet Road and Oran Avenue.
According to Dixon, the Venice Police Department arrested Conrad for the burglary during a traffic stop on October 1. He was charged October 4 with two counts of burglary and remains in custody at the Madison County Jail on $85,000 bond.
On October 2, deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office and officers with the Granite City Police Department located Brown and Stough at a motel in Granite City and arrested them. Brown was charged October 4 with two counts of burglary and jailed on $100,000 bond. Stough was charged with one count of burglary and one count of residential burglary. He's been jailed on $100,000 bond.
Dixon said investigators were able to recover all but one of the stolen firearms and some of the power tools from the burglary on Oran Avenue.
