Fort Myers, FL (WBBH/CNN) - Lightning cut football practice short for a Florida boy.
Southwest Florida Christian Academy officials say 11-year-old Jesse Watlington was struck when he ran out on the field for practice.
When the coaches saw the lightning, they told the students to come back indoors.
That's when they say they saw Watlington had been hit.
Pastor Richard Powell says the middle school student is in critical condition and not breathing on his own.
He says he's calling on the community to rally for the teen's recovery.
"Just letting this be a time where we trust in the lord and ask God for a real miracle in the life a precious young man," said Pastor Richard Powell.
Powell says the coaches say the skies were blue when the strike happened.
