St. Louis (KSDK) -- A real taste of autumn is enveloping the Bi-state region today. Showers and some thunderstorms behind a strong cold front are making for a damp, chilly Friday.
High temperatures in the mid 50s happened just after midnight. As the rain spreads across the region, temperatures will continue to drop into the 40s. Couple that with winds from the north and it will be quite a contrast with Thursday's high of 83 in St. Louis.
The showers will diminish during the evening hours, though there is still the chance some rain will hang on, especially south and east of St. Louis, for tonight's high school football match-ups.

The weekend will be mainly dry, though a small chance for rain exists over far southern Missouri and southern Illinois later Saturday and Saturday night. Highs this weekend will be in the mid 50s.
Overnight lows will drop into the 30s for the next three nights, but a breeze the next two nights will likely prevent frost from forming. Some frost and freezing temperatures will be possible Sunday night and early Monday.
