St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis Police surrounded a multiple family building in north St. Louis searching for a possible bank robber.
Investigators were called to the bank hold-up around 9:00 a.m. at Pulaski Bank in the 400 block of DeBaliviere after a man walked in armed with a steak knife in one hand and a gun in the other and announced a robbery.
The bandit then fled the bank on foot and was last seen in the area of Clara and Clemons where authorities thought he had run into a building.
After surrounding a residence in the 800 block of Clara, police were able to locate the robber's location in the building and as they moved in, the man surrendered. The stolen money and the suspect's firearm were recovered.
Police said the suspect has a history of mental illness, so negotiators asked the man's mother to assist them in getting him to surrender.
