St. Louis (KSDK) - The giant "P" in the Pevely sign came crashing down to the ground Tuesday.
Workers were removing the sign at Grand and Chouteau when the accident happened.
Clayton Berry, a spokesperson for Saint Louis University says workers were bringing down the letter "P" from the sign using a rope.
The sidewalk and adjacent street were cleared prior to the lowering of the letter.
At some point the rope snapped, causing the "P" to crash onto the sidewalk below.
The remaining letters will be removed by taking them out through the inside of the property.
No one was hit or injured.
