When it comes to the popularity of Obama vs. Romney, voters are clear: They prefer Michelle and Ann to Barack or Mitt.
The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll shows the presidential wives outpace their husbands. Nearly 7 in 10 voters (or 67%) have a favorable impression of Michelle Obama, while 55% say the same about the president.
Ann Romney's popularity has shot up since the spring, as she has become better known to voters. She is viewed favorably by 56% of voters -- up 13 points since April. By comparison, 47% of voters have a positive view of Mitt Romney.
Voters, of course, aren't picking a president based on their spouses. "But every advantage can count in a close race, and spouses can play a very public role in the campaigns," wrote Gary Langer, ABC's polling director.
Ann Romney will be in the spotlight today when she guest hosts Good Morning America on ABC. We'll have more on that later.
