St. Louis (KSDK) - A new program to train workers in St. Louis is getting national attention and a big boost.
On Wednesday United States Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis visited St. Louis Community College in Florissant. She checked out a program that helps train students in manufacturing, transportation and health care.
During the visit she awarded a $15 million dollar federal grant to the college to support the training she believes will help America's unemployed.
"It's really about making sure that individuals who have lost jobs through no fault of their own have an opportunity to get back into the workplace. Credentials that are going to mean something," said Solis.
The college has been working on partnerships with several local employers to develop the training programs for students.
