Maria Huber found alive in Franklin County

Washington, MO (KSDK) - An 11-year-old girl who disappeared overnight in Washington, Missouri has been found alive.

According to the chief deputy of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Maria Huber was found a half-mile from her home, near the intersection of Jones Road and Old Highway 100 in Franklin County.  She was unconscious at the time and rushed to a hospital.

Investigators had told us they could not detect any vital signs on the girl and believed she was dead.  When they attempted to move her from the scene, she sat up.

Maria Huber is being treated at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri.

NewsChannel 5 originally reported Maria Huber had been found dead after hearing from the chief deputy of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

Huber's parents told investigators she went to bed at around 9 p.m. The parents said they went to check on her at 6 a.m. and noticed she was gone.

The initial investigation indicated Huber may have run away from home, the sheriff's office said. The parents said the girl's alarm clock had been set for 2 a.m., and told deputies she'd been upset over a disagreement with them earlier in the week.
