St. Louis (KSDK) - An accident has closed eastbound lanes of Interstate 44, with traffic getting by only on the shoulder.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. Thursday near Laclede Station Road after two vehicles crashed and caught fire.

Authorities have closed the lanes of I-44 at Murdoch Avenue, but are allowing traffic to get around the accident on the shoulder. Drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes.

There's no word on whether anyone was injured.
