St. Louis, Mo. (KSDK) -- One person died Saturday evening in a two vehicle accident.
St. Louis Fire Captain Dan Sutter confirmed the death. The accident happened around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Lee and Fair.
St. Louis Police Lt. Ken Lammert says a white Impala was heading east at a high rate of speed when the vehicle t-boned a green sedan.
The driver of the sedan, 23-year-old Jameem Jones, was killed.
The Impala then crashed into a building near the intersection of Lee and Fair.
Neighborhood residents say it was the result of a police chase.
Police say they were not pursuing the white Impala, though they had reports of a car fitting that description driving at a high rate of speed west of there, at Dryden and Taylor.
"The car that was in front that it was following picked up speed," says witness Charles Wilson. "And as I turned around thinking the police car was going to stop it I heard a collision. That's when I looked up and saw where the car had hit another car and then the other car proceeded to go into the building there."
Police say both cars had other passengers who sustained mild to moderate injuries.
