St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A north St. Louis County woman missing for more than a week continues to be the subject of a search after last being seen at a Jefferson County hotel.
State and local police agencies alerted the media of the situation earlier this week, stating 62-year-old Betty Gathing of Spanish Lake was last heard from on October 9 after checking out of a motel in Festus where she stayed after a return trip to visit family members in Mississippi.
Authorities say Gathing went missing after driving back to St. Louis and told family members she was stopping to spend the night on October 8th at the Drury Inn in Festus.
Gathing checked out of the hotel and has not been seen or heard from since.
Family has informed investigators that Gathing was driving her red 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with Missouri license plate WB5 T9H.
Gathing has schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder according to family members who fear she may be off her medications. Anyone with and information is urged to contact 911 or the St. Louis County Police at 1-314-889-2341.
