South St. Louis (KSDK) - Police cannot connect the crimes at this point, but there are similarities in the robbery and shooting of two different victims overnight in south St. Louis.

Around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, a woman was walking in the area of Russell and South Grand when a man with a gun approached and announced a robbery.

The gunman was described as having braided hair, gray hoodie, and wearing blue jeans.  He took the woman's purse, then shot her once in the face and once in the arm before fleeing to an SUV nearby and fleeing.  The woman is hospitalized in serious, but stable condition at an area hospital.

Just before midnight in a parking lot at Christy and South Kingshighway, a man was walking across the lot when he was confronted by a man with a gun who ordered the victim to hand over his money.

The victim said he had no money, and the robber then shot the man in the side before running to a nearby sport utility vehicle where the gunman and another man in the vehicle drove away.

The man shot is now hospitalized in serious condition.

No names released in either investigation and the search for suspects continues.
