St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - St. Louis police officers escaped injury after they were fired upon at least twice by two men in a pick-up that was pursued by officers through a large part of north St. Louis early Friday.
The incident started around 12:30 a.m. after a woman told police she was robbed at gunpoint in the 5400 block of Delmar by a man she knew.
After taking the victim's cash, the man fled to a gray pick-up truck where he left in the truck with another man. Minutes later, patrol officers spotted the truck and gave chase.
The driver of the pick-up continued to speed away as officers pursued the vehicle through several North City neighborhoods, then onto eastbound I-70 where the men in the truck began shooting at the pursuing officers.
The suspects then exited at Salisbury Street and headed back north, still fleeing from the police. More shots were fired at the officers before the pick-up and the two men inside abandoned the vehicle in the 4900 block of Euclid Terrace, in the Fountain Park area, and fled.
Police located one of the two men at an apartment building about 20 minutes later and took him into custody. The second man remains on the loose.
No officers were injured in the incident and the investigation and search continues.
