Mike Karandzieff dies after battle with cancer

St. Louis (KSDK) - A third-generation co-owner of St. Louis' popular Crown Candy Kitchen has died.

Mike Karandzieff died Thursday night at his home in Chesterfield after a three year battle with stomach cancer.  He was 57 years old.

Mike and siblings Andy and Tommy inherited the restaurant at 1401 St. Louis Avenue from their father George.  George Karandzieff took it over from his father, who bought it in 1913.

Visitation for Mike Karandzieff will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Buchholz Mortuary West in Chesterfield.  Funeral is set for Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellisville.
