St. Louis County (KSDK) - A new state-of-the-art crime lab should help speed up investigations in St. Louis County.

On Monday, construction began on the new $9 million lab in Clayton. It will be built on the third and fourth floors of the St. Louis County Police Department headquarters.

Right now, a 30 person team works in cramped quarters.

The new lab should be complete by the end of 2013.
