St. Louis (KSDK) - The owner of an Irish Pub in south St. Louis fought off would be robbers with a broom overnight.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police responded to O'Malley's Irish Pub on Cherokee near Lemp in South St. Louis around 2 a.m. Tuesday following a report of an attempted robbery.
Police said the husband and wife owners of the business were closing up for the night and sweeping the sidewalk when men walked up to the husband and pointed a gun at him.
The husband proceeded to hit the robbers with a broom but as the robbers ran off they fired several shots.
A friend of the owners' was sweeping on the other side of the building. That's when another man approached him and fired shots.
The bar owner tried to keep the men out of the bar because his wife was inside.
Nobody was struck by the gunfire. Police are still looking for the robbers.
