St. Louis County (KSDK) - The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged a 31-year-old Jefferson County woman on October 8 for allegedly stealing a diamond engagement ring from an elderly woman.

According to Officer Randy Vaughn, a spokesman for the St. Louis County Police Department, the 90-year-old victim contacted police on July 26 to report a theft at her home in the 1200 block of Moncoeur Drive in Unincorporated St. Louis County.

The victim said her deceased mother's diamond engagement ring, valued at $5,000, was stolen from her bedroom on July 24 during a visit from a local cleaning service.

Vaughn said investigators contacted the cleaning company and determined a new employee, identified as Angela Wisecarver, took the ring and pawned it at a jewelry shop in Crestwood.

Prosecutors charged Wisecarver with one felony count of stealing. Her bond was set at $7,500.
