Troy, MO (KSDK) - An area bank has one of its presidents to thank for saving it from robbery.
NewsChannel 5 spoke to the man caught on camera, taking down a suspected thief.
"I wasn't excited at all at the time. I got more excited after it was over. My mind went into work mode, I knew what I had to do, and how to protect my people. I just wanted to make sure we got him out of here," said David Thompson, President of People's Bank and Trust in Troy, MO.
Police say around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday a masked man walked out of the bank, carrying around $5,000. But Thompson has a conceal and carry permit.
He followed the man. Then, he got help holding him down at gunpoint until police arrived.
The suspect, 58-year-old Donald Lee of Troy, Missouri, is now charged with robbery. He is a customer at the bank.
