Demetrius McCalister sentenced on drug and weapons charges

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A 20-year-old North St. Louis County man was sentenced Thursday on drug and weapons charges connected to the shooting of a man over marijuana, US Attorney Richard Callahan said.

According to court documents, Demetrius McCalister pleaded guilty in April to one count of being a felon in possession of ammunition, one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

McCalister admitted to shooting a man during a struggle over purchasing a half-pound bag of marijuana.

The judge sentenced Demetrius McCalister to 12 years in federal prison.
